Every year for the last twenty years, the Dorset Expeditionary Society has been distributing grants to schools and colleges to help fund Outdoor Adventure activities. This year the Society has been busy distributing funds to Westfield Technology College, Wyvern School, Budmouth Technology College, Wey Valley School, Weymouth College.

In 2009 The DES gave Westfield £1000, which the school used for weekly Outdoor Adventure classes and to help fund the schools Jubilee Challenge Team at the Ten Tors on Dartmoor.

Senior Teaching Assistant, Westfield Technology College Rosie Down said,
“Without your continued support I know it would be difficult to ensure all of our students had the opportunities they get at the moment. As usual we also include as many students from the Autism base. I am sure you are well aware that students benefit from doing Outdoor Adventurous activities in so many ways: boosting self esteem, helping them to try out new things and achieving more than they thought possible”.

Other DES affiliated schools have benefited from our help. Secondary schools in Dorset have received annual grants to allow them to run Outdoor activity weeks on Dartmoor for Year 7 pupils, and to attend Residential activities at Runnage farm.
